It hit me, that this item had a much better potential as a handy device in the home militants arsenal of improvised munitions. It offered several things that physical tripwires are limited by. What the device does is, it stays dormant until it is deprived of light (by someone crossing the light path) When it doesn't get light, it crosses over into a secondary circuit, which has an alarm or in our case explosives attached. So there you go, school isn't a total waste of time is it, and the better thing about this was, we were being given all the parts i needed to make it...;) which lets face it is a hell of a lot better than paying for them, and much easier than acquiring them through illegitemate means. The device has many uses. I've called it a tripwire, because thats what i thought it would be best as at first. But it can also be used as an alarm, or a cross between, where when the alarm goes off, so does the explosives....that would be quite alarming (bad pun) Ther good part about it is, its simple and easy, and relatively cheap. I'm going to provide two systems, the only differance will be the addition of a relay, which ups the cost by about $5. Avoid Dick Smith and Tandy, coz there just too commercial. I recommend Jay Car Electronics. All up the parts should only cost a couple of dollars, but the relay will be about $5, but it does make the circuit much better. I'm no good at scematics, so i've done you a VGA of the wiring diagram, so just copy that. For the cheaper style, just leave of the resistor, and have you explosive charge hoocked up to those two wires. (note- i havn't tried it without a relay, so i can't guarantee that it will work, however in theory it should, but it won't be as stable) The hardest part about this circuit will be the light source, people are going to see a torch beam focused on the system, i recommend, a bright Red LED, you can adjust the sensitivity of the system, by turning the trimpot. Another variation on the circuit would be to switch the LDR (light dependant resistor), with a LRR (light resistant resistor) so that as soon as light gets on the circuit, it is activated. Good for destroying a room, when someone enters and turns on a light.
